Description

The Apple Watch Series 9 launched in September 2023 as Apple's flagship smartwatch, featuring the S9 SiP with a 30% faster GPU and twice-as-fast Neural Engine compared to the S8. Its standout feature is Double Tap, a gesture that lets users control the watch by tapping their index finger and thumb together. The 2,000-nit display doubled the brightness of its predecessor, and on-device Siri processing brought faster, more private voice commands. The blood oxygen sensor was disabled for US buyers from January 2024 to August 2025 due to the Masimo patent dispute, and now operates via an iPhone-based workaround. Discontinued when the Series 10 arrived in September 2024.
